Three ways to play it
Thursday Pool Parties
The classic: every Thursday in summer, 20:00 to 01:00, with international DJs.
White Edition & specials
The all-white White Edition, day pool parties like Sidewinder and festival days like Spiral.
Headliner nights
One-off nights with big international names: Bob Sinclar, Claptone, Camelphat and ARTBAT have all played here.
How to do Café del Mar
Café del Mar Malta in one minute: a pool club on the rocks at Qawra Point, an infinity pool that looks straight out to St Paul's Islands, Comino and Gozo, and a party season that lasts all summer. From 8pm the terrace becomes one of the biggest dance floors on the island.
This is our planner for it: which night to pick, how to time it, what to expect at the door and the easiest way to get there and back.
Pick your night
- Thursday: the Thursday Pool Parties are the classic Café del Mar night out. They run every week through the summer, 8pm to 1am.
- The big nights: headliner nights. Recent seasons have brought names like Bob Sinclar, Claptone, Camelphat, ARTBAT and Deborah De Luca.
- White Edition: a yearly party where everyone wears white.
Timing your evening
Evening tickets are valid from 8pm and most parties finish at 1am. Arrive early on the big nights: the terrace fills up fast.
Tickets, the door and what to bring
- Events are 17+, and some promoters make it 18+. Bring original photo ID.
- Expect a bag check at the entrance. No glass, no flares and no outside food or drink.
- There's no strict dress code, except at the all-white White Edition. Bring something to wear over swimwear if you plan to eat.
- Card and cash both work, and there's an ATM two minutes away on Pjazza San Pawl.
- Headliner nights sell out, so buy online before you travel.
Getting there and back
Café del Mar is next to the Malta National Aquarium in Qawra, around 25 minutes from St Julian's.
- Bus: the TD13 express from St Julian's or Valletta, or route 45 from Valletta, stops at Ben, 3–4 minutes from the entrance.
- Night bus: the N212 leaves Ben for St Julian's and Sliema every 20 minutes from around midnight; the N11 goes to Pembroke and Swieqi.
- Taxi or ride-hailing: Bolt, Uber and eCabs all drop off at the complex, about 20–25 minutes from Paceville.
- Driving: there's an underground car park beneath the aquarium complex.
